KOTA KINABALU – A total of 119 people from 47 families have been evacuated to a relief centre after their houses in two villages in Kota Marudu, about 10 km from here, were affected by floodwaters today.
Sabah Civil Defence Force director Col (PA) Kamal Mokhtar said the evacuees, namely 86 people from 35 families from Kampung Kuranji and 33 people from 12 families from Kampung Popok Darat, were housed at Kota Marudu community hall, which was opened at 3.45 pm.
Meanwhile, he said the 117 people from 33 families housed earlier at two relief centres – Sekolah Kebangsaan Teritipan and Rukun Tetangga Salimandut building – were allowed to return home. The two centres were closed at 3 pm. -BERNAMA
